Whale WatchingWhale season is a truly magical experience. The natural beauty of these wonderful creatures is simply amazing and very intriguing. Albany since the early 1800's was known as a whaling town, until it was ceased in 1978. Discovery Bay (also known as Whale World) was the old Cheynes Whaling Station where the whales were brought to and is now a history museum.
During late May through to early October is the best time to see whales in King George Sound. Sometimes if you are lucky, whales can be seen just off Middleton Beach in front of the park! |
WildflowersWhile Albany may be renowned for its whale watching opportunities, did you know that it is also home to an array of stunning wildflowers? The natural beauties of these floras are unrivalled and unique to the south-west corridor of Australia. Beginning in late August, the flowers can be viewed all through spring and the summer months across the region.
